Installation Note 38894: The SASĀ® Deployment Wizard stops responding when you have insufficient space for the SASHOME directory
If you are installing SAS® 9.3 and do not have sufficient space for the SASHOME directory, the SAS Deployment Wizard might not indicate this clearly. As a result, the wizard seems to stop responding or it repeats the same messages. The installation documentation recommends that you allocate 2-3GB of space for your SASHOME directory. The exact amount of space required depends on the combination of products that you are installing.
When you are using the windowing interface, the needed space and the available space are displayed, as shown below. As you can see here, the fact that the available space is too small is not at all emphasized.
Messages Are Repeated
When you are using the SAS Deployment Wizard in console mode, the wizard keeps displaying the same messages:
Checking System
Examining File System........................................................................................
The following files need to be added/modified/deleted, but they are currently locked or do not have write permissions.
To continue, please quit any SAS applications that are running and the file system will be examined again to determine
if any file conflicts remain.
Enter <b> to go back to the previous prompts, <h> for help, or <q> to quit.
Note that these commands include the letter and the angle brackets.
Press Enter to continue:

Workaround
To correct this situation, exit the SAS Deployment Wizard, allocate a larger space for the SASHOME directory, and then restart the wizard.
